Situations

S1: Hà asks Nam: "John's mother speaks Vietnamese very well, doesn't she?". Nam replied:

(John's mother is Vietnamese!)

explains that what was said is natural or obvious to the speaker.

S2: Loan is worried about her fiancé's faithfulness. He replies:

Thật mà!
(Really! / I'm serious!)

He uses to affirm the fact and reassure Loan.

S3: Hà told Nam not to drive so fast. Nam still drove fast and had an accident. Hà said:

Tôi đã bảo mà!
(I told you so!)

is used here to reproach Nam for not following advice.
